Diversity Scholarship

At ESA we are aware of how diversity enriches programs and how we gain  different perspectives with a more diverse community. We think studying abroad should be affordable and accessible for everyone, and we want to do our part to help you to travel with us. 

If you come from a diverse background or community and have a financial need, please consider applying to our scholarship. We are open to individuals coming from underrepresented backgrounds and communities, including, but not limited to the areas of ethnicity and race, LGBTQ+ community, socioeconomic background, age, religious background, special accessibility needs, learning differences, first generation, and non-traditional students.

Summer program

Three scholarships will be awarded to summer 2023 program participants that use ESA as a provider for their faculty-led program.

Deadline for summer 2023 programs 

  • Application deadline: March 30, 2023 
  • Recipient announcement: May 1, 2023

Awards and amounts

  • Scholarship 1: $1000 
  • Scholarship 2: $1000
  • Scholarship 3: $1000

Qualifications & Eligibility

  • Accepted application for a faculty led program that partners with ESA.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.7 (good standing).
  • Come from an underrepresented or diverse community or background: Ethnically/Racially Diverse, First Generation College, High Financial Need, LGBTQI+, Religious Diversity, Students with Disabilities, Non-traditional students.
  • Have a financial for the aid

Application Package

1. Complete the Application form

2. Include the following supporting documents in your application: 

  • Essay answering the following questions (500-800 words): Tell us your goals for studying abroad in your selected location, how you are uniquely qualified to receive scholarships and aid, how our funding will help you reach your stated goals, and as applicable, your background and/or how you have overcome adversity as a traditionally under-represented student. 
  • Unofficial transcripts including GPA.
  • Proof of program’s enrollment (Communication from the faculty leader or University of acceptance).
  • Current Financial Aid Documentation 

Responsibilities 

  • ESA social media embassador during your program. 
  • Once awarded, the awardees allow ESA to disclose their names and photos for social media posts. 
  • If the awardee cancels their participation or becomes ineligible for the program, the scholarship will be withdrawn and given to a candidate on the waiting list.

Funding

ESA shall fund the scholarship during the first week of your program to your US bank account.

Please contact your study abroad and financial aid offices and make sure the award of this scholarship will not impact any other scholarship or financial aid application you may be planning to apply for.
